About the Artist
Santo Cielo is a Uruguayan textile industrial designer and fiber artist resident in Berlin. In 2015, while researching for her undergraduate thesis, she learned various hand embroidery techniques from different women and subsequently continued exploring needle painting independently.
Her work explores themes such as domestic life, nostalgia, embodiment, joy, and storytelling. She creates detailed portraits of animals and people, hand-embroidered using techniques like needle painting and bead embroidery, continuously expanding her artistic language across textile mediums.
About the Work
Hand-embroidered textile portraits and sculptural fiber pieces featuring intricate needle painting, beads, and layered textures capturing domestic life and nostalgic intimacy.
